historical city of Bikaner dates back to 1488 when a Rathore prince, Rao
Bikaji founded his kingdom. This city which experiences numerous sand
dunes is located in the north-west part of Rajasthan state. Bikaner city

PLACES TO SEE IN BIKANER Junagarh Fort The famous Junagarh fort is a fascinating piece of architecture that was built between 1588 -1593 AD by Raja Rai Singh. This elegant fort has about 986 high walls with 37 bastions and two entrances. The palaces within this fort are on the southern side that capture a very picturesque view of courtyards, balconies, kiosks and windows. Lallgarh Palace The architectural masterpiece called Lallgarh Palace is made of red sandstone. It was built by Maharaja Ganga Singh in memory of his father Maharaja Lall Singh during 1902 -1926. This excellent masterpiece is a true example of Rajputana architecture portraying grand halls, lounges, cupolas and pavilions. Gajner Palace, also known as the summer resort of Bikaner Maharajas, is often known as a jewel in the Thar desert. This palace was built by Maharaja Ganga Singh ji of Bikaner. It was built on the banks of lake mainly used for shooting and entertainment. This palace stands as a witness to the entertainment of the then dignitaries and viceroys.
