This famous site has numerous legendary tales that are evergreen and date back from the regime of Mahabharata.

The legend has it that the brave Bhim, stomped the ground with such force that a water body was born. Chittorgarh is famous for the tale of Bhim Lat. Besides, jauhar and memorable reigns mark the history of Chittorgarh. Though Chittorgarh is an oft visited destination but suffers due to lack of good standard hotels. However, there are a number of budget hostels available with basic services.

PLACES TO SEE IN CHITTORGARH

Vijay Stambh
The nine-storeyed tower is known as Vijay Stambh also called the Victory Tower. From top of this city one can have a wonderful view of the city. Maharana Kumbha built this tower in 1440 when after defeating Mohamed Khilji.

Kirtistambh
Kirtistambh is also known as the tower of pride. The huge fort is located on the top of a 180m high hill. Kirtistambh is about 22 m high & has 7 storeys; it was built in 12th century by a very rich Jain businessman.

Kalika Mata Temple
The Kalika Mata temple was built in 8th century for Sun, and now since 14th century it is dedicated to Kalika Mata.

Meerabai Temple
Meerabai temple is the famous place where Meera Bai worshiped Lord Krishna. It’s a beautiful piece of architecture which represents the excellent craftsmanship.

HOW TO REACH

By Air
The nearest airport is the Dabok Airport in Udaipur which is about 90 km from the city of Chittorgarh.
By Train
Chittorgarh is widely connected through train network with trains coming from Jaipur, Udaipur, Ahmedabad, Delhhi and many other big cities.
By Road
There are regular express buses to major destinations like New Delhi, Ajmer, and Jaipur & Udaipur.
