event is celebrated in Jaipur city with great pomp and show. Number of
elephants walk in rows in front of large audience as if some fashion
models are displaying a new range of garment collection. The mahouts
take great care to decorate the elephants while painting their trunks,
foreheads, and feet with great flowery designs and colour almost their
whole body with different caricatures. Female elephants wear anklets
with and make music as they walk. A number of cultural events take place during this festival including elephant races, polo games on elephants, spring festival of holi and many others. Foreign tourists also come to Jaipur specially for this festival. |
