is a small town in Rajasthan that stands steeped in history and has been
a witness to a number of historic events therin. Kumbalgarh Fort was
built by Rana Kumbha of Mewar during the 15th century who was always
concerned about amending the security of the fort. This place is mainly
famous for its elegant forts and wild life sanctuary.PLACES TO SEE IN KUMBHALGARH Kumbalgarh Fort Kumbalgarh Fort is built at an altitude of 3,500 feet with an area of 12 sq km. It is shielded by a 36 km long wall. The fort is just 60 km away from Udaipur. On top of the fort is the Badal Mahal Palace, It encloses beautiful rooms with pleasant colour schemes of green, turquoise and white, which provides a fascinating contrast to the raw, earthy and grim fortress. The palace was rebuilt by Rana Fateh Singh in the late 19th century. The legendary Maharana Pratap was born here. Haldighati Haldighati is the famous battle field which stands witness to the historic battle fought between Rana Pratap, the brave Rajput leader and son of Udai Singh and the Mughal Emperor Akbar in 1576. There is a Chattri that stands on the battle field representing a true testimony of the love. A second chattri has been erected nearby in honor of Chetak, the loyal horse of Rana Pratap which carried its wounded master away from the enemies. Muchchal Mahavir Temple is located at a distance of about 5 km from the Kumbhalgarh Sanctuary with Lord Mahavira as the presiding idol of the temple. The craftsmanship put in to make this temple clearly reflects in the beautiful elephants and other carved ornamentations. Kumbhalgarh Wildlife Sanctuary Sited in the flourishing green zone of Udaipur, Kumbalgarh is the only sanctuary of Rajasthan, where activities of the rarely found wolf can be seen. This is one of the few parks that allow people on horseback. The best time to visit the reserve is from October to June.
