Pushkar Lake, Pushkar HolidaysSituated in the middle of Aravali hills, Pushkar is a small town in Rajasthan with beautiful and serene lake. The sacred Pushkar Lake which according to a legend was created by Lord Brahma has about 52 ghats and 500 temples that have always attracted a lot of devotees. Pushkar is also famous for the illustrious cattle fair that takes place here every year.

Pushkar is about 14 km away from Ajmer, 145 km away from Jaipur. Udaipur, Jodhpur and Delhi lie at a distance of 289 km, 214km and 403 km respectively. Pushkar is also known as the land of fairs and festivals.

PLACES TO SEE IN PUSHKAR

Pushkar Lake
The prime attraction of Pushkar city is the Pushkar Lake which is a very sacred lake and attracts a lot of pilgrims year round. Legend has it that this lake was consecrated to Lord Brahma, the creator of the universe when a lotus dropped from his hand into the valley and a lake emerged in that place.

Brahma Temple
The most important temple in Pushkar is the Temple of Lord Brahma, one of the holy trinity of Hinduism. In fact it is the only Hindu shrine in the world where Lord Brahma is worshipped. The temple enshrines a life-size idol of Lord Brahma.

Savitri Temple
Savitri Temple is located at the top of the Ratnagiri Hill and is dedicated to Savitri, the wife of Lord Brahma. The temple houses a wonderful statue of Goddess Savitri.

HOW TO REACH

By Air
Jaipur is the nearest airport, which is about 138 km from Pushkar. One can get direct flights from /to Delhi and other cities in India.
By Train
Ajmer is the nearest railway station (about 11 km) and is connected to Delhi, Agra, Jaipur, Ahmedabad, Udaipur and Jodhpur by regular trains. Two of the best trains of the Indian Railways, Pink City Express and Shatabdi Express connect Ajmer to Delhi and Jaipur.
By Road
Pushkar has two bus stands--The Marwar bus stand which has buses to some long distance places including Delhi, Jodhpur and Bikaner while the Ajmer bus stand is located east of the Pushkar town and offers bus services to Ajmer and Jaipur. There are regular buses from Pushkar to Ajmer.
